Determination of Background level of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) and Poly Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in Ambient Air near Mare Chicose Landfill, La Chaumière Transfer Station and Roche Bois Transfer Station

A monitoring campaign was conducted from November 2024 to May 2025 to evaluate the presence and distribution of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) and Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) at waste management facilities in Mauritius, namely the Mare Chicose Landfill and the La Chaumière and Roche Bois Transfer Stations. The report presents the key findings of that monitoring campaign and ends with key recommendations aimed at mitigating the potential release of POPs and PAHs.
