Nature Trail (Le Dauguet)

Spanning 2.18 km, the trail offers visitors a unique opportunity to experience the island’s rich biodiversity. Along the track, a variety of endemic species such as Diospyros tessellaria (Bois D'Ébene)and Elaeodendron orientale (Bois D'Olive) can be observed, alongside notable exotic species including Mahogany and Eucalyptus. The initiative promotes public engagement with nature while contributing to environmental education and the appreciation of Mauritius’ forest heritage.

A planted forest has been established on 1 hectare of land, featuring species such as Terminalia bentzoe, Mahogany, and Eucalyptus. The site is regularly patrolled by the Forestry Service to ensure its protection, and prevent illegal activities, thereby safeguarding the integrity of the forest ecosystem.
