Recognizing the importance of centralising data pertaining to its vast maritime zones, the Department for Continental Shelf, Maritime Zones Administration and Exploration has set up the Mauritius Ocean Observatory E-platform (E-platform). The E-platform aims to facilitate data access and data sharing between researchers, partners and users involved in management, policy and planning. By implementing standards promoting the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) data principles, the E-platform supports the Marine Spatial Planning initiative of the Republic of Mauritius by providing a platform to collect, store, organize and provide access to spatio-temporal geospatial data. The E-platform also provides access to cruise reports and data collected during research cruises that have been approved under the Mauritius Maritime Zones (Conduct of Marine Scientific Research) Regulations 2017.
