Water Observatory of Mauritius | ||
On August 4, 2022, the Water Observatory for Mauritius and Rodrigues was inaugurated at the Victoria Beachcomber Resort in Pointe aux Piments. This initiative, a collaboration between the Ministry of Energy and Public Utilities, the Agence française de développement (AFD), and the Office de l'eau of Reunion Island, and supported by the Fund for Technical Expertise and Experience Transfers (FEXTE), was launched during a two-day workshop attended by various dignitaries. The Observatory aims at creating a detailed water resources database and forming policies, alongside launching a public website for water-related data. The AFD has committed EUR 250,000 to support the observatory project to foster better knowledge sharing and strengthen water management strategies in Mauritius.
